Why?

Don't you see more European pros in our peloton? Take for example Shacks newest rider Matthew Busche. Has he won an Interclub race, a kermesse? Big race in the U.S., Europe? He has got some ok results but... really? What type of reasoning would you take to hire him to do Protour races? At this point I think Alex Boyd, Doug Swanson, Adam Bergman, Patty Cakes(the list could go on and on) are way more qualified. Not to mention riders I know in Belgium who have won real races with no contracts. Am I wrong, am I wrong?

What's wrong with cycling in America? I'll tell you, we call it cycling, but really it's not.

Matthew, good luck man and I hope you can trade pulls with Tom Boonen.

Why am I not on a team again?

I know you think track racing isn't real racing but there was a similar thread on FixedGearFever not too long ago about a national-level sprinter guy who got an invite to race in a Six Day sprint sideshow thing (a pretty big deal) with some world level guys. There was an uproar about how there are faster guys in the US who deserve to be there more than he did, etc etc.

Bottom line was the dude marketed himself and made contacts and that's what got him the gig. Cycling is like any other job and somehow I suspect Busche's performance at Gila last year (right in front of Leipheimer, Armstrong and Horner's eyes) had a lot to do with getting a pro contract.

It's not always about how fast you are or who's faster than you...

Sickboy is right. I suspect it might have something to do with IScorp/Ochowitz connection. A lot of it is who you know for sure. Nobody said life was going to be fair.

I guess I could have used a better example like (insert a name here…) and I guess I always though if you did well you’ll get on a good team. Not just because of who you know but what your legs can do. Bummer, I am going to go drink a 40now.

And Sickboy, I only joke about track racing not being real racing.

Dew, actually my mommy told me life is fair.

Sorry, it’s that time of the month again.

Uh? A desperate cry of jealousy! Nothing is wrong with cycling in America. If you don't like it over here, go back to Belgium. And getting 5th at USPRO is waaaay harder then winning a Kermesse in Belgium. Oh, and btw, ask yourself why you're not on a team...Have you even won a P/1/2 race down in Texas yet?

Nice attack!

Lets upgrade the kermesse to an interclub race… When is the last time an American won one of those?

Jealous? You might be right, or maybe I just don’t like Wisconsin. See I have a problem with their cheese. They say it’s the best but have you ever had California cheese? I would say Wisconsin cheese is overrated.

I know my place in the peloton and it doesn’t involve being on a podium that often. And I would take a top ten in an interclub over winning any race in Texas.

And I think I will take your advice and maybe stay in Belgium where I have fans, great team support and a family. O yeah I was already going to do that… See you over there and make sure you announce yourself so I don’t “accidentally” put you in the ditch.

And what is “btw” mean? I am already bad at English; I don’t need to mess it up with weird lingo.

Booyah!
