Sweet mini trip.

I left Monday morning from Tulsa. Thank you Sarah and Kory! I decided to take a few days to get back home. So I headed south and a little east. Just about 2 hours south of Tulsa is beautiful, including little mountains and Pine Trees! It was a great route and Stella was able to pull along nicely at around 60mph the whole trip. What a great little moto... I need to get a front rack now.

Here's where I spent the night. It was a hunting campground so it didn't cost any money. I woke up with my water bottle frozen, some deer walking around and a park ranger asking me what the heck I was doing.

I had to scoot up this dirt road. It was super rocky up towards the top and I had to stop a few times to find the right route. I was spinning out and everything... it was priceless.

I saw this sweet little pussy out side at one of the gas stations. I am a sucker for a pussy in need, so I gave her a piece of summer sausage and she went off her marry way. Only to come back for more! Cute little thing... And no I didn't bring it back.

---

I think this little trip was just a dry run for a longer one.

---

Enough fooling around. Time to shave the legs and get back on the money maker.

At the last minute...

I made the decision to head up to Tulsa on the scoot. At first I was taking tons of back roads and hitting every little town on earth. Oklahoma isn't that bad once you get off the freeway. But taking the back roads was taking forever! So I hit up 377 to 66 and crossed the river on 44. 8 hours later I made it.

The plan is to take a few days to get home.

I'll take "MN Cycling" for 1000, Alex.

Alex: Where do MN racers go to retire?

Me: What is becoming a member of the MCF board.

Alex: Correct

Crowd: Applause with some girl yelling out I am hot.

Self realization quiz.

Do I smell bad? While I don't really care what people think of me, I don't need them to be physically irritated. So honest answers would be appreciated and fire will be adjusted.

Who...

and when are you snow people coming down here to train? We don't have an extra room anymore but we still have plenty of floor space. Cost will be 1 case of Premium/Summit or some other good beer, like maybe Spotted Cow.

This place may make you crazy... crazy fast!

The above was a translation on how informed readers read my blog. So... if you can read this that means you take life too seriously and should subscribe to www.failmuch.blogspot.com. Plug plug.

I am "taping out" for a couple weeks.

Why?

Don't you see more European pros in our peloton? Take for example Shacks newest rider Matthew Busche. Has he won an Interclub race, a kermesse? Big race in the U.S., Europe? He has got some ok results but... really? What type of reasoning would you take to hire him to do Protour races? At this point I think Alex Boyd, Doug Swanson, Adam Bergman, Patty Cakes(the list could go on and on) are way more qualified. Not to mention riders I know in Belgium who have won real races with no contracts. Am I wrong, am I wrong?

What's wrong with cycling in America? I'll tell you, we call it cycling, but really it's not.

Matthew, good luck man and I hope you can trade pulls with Tom Boonen.

Why am I not on a team again?

Another good day

My first trip to Mt. Scott this year. I am hitting it early and hard. My first time up was 15:16 with no training, my PR is 14:50 my best the first year I was here was 15:50s. I plan on being under 14 by spring. I am glad this place is only and hour away.

Check out this idiot... Fancy pants and I were walking to my car when we spotted this and were ripping on this idiot kind of loud... Well, I walked back to my car to get my camera at the same time the owner walked up... we talked a little about how this happened... and then I busted out the camera. and he's like "you talking a photo?" and I though he was going to throw down the way he said it... Idiot.
Jason and Tiffany's Complex bear named Coco is getting bigger. she's going to be super cute for a Wichita Falls mutt.

Keep the dream guys! It happens!

So I was over at my friends place the other night with four of her sorority sisters (I know right.) I asked when the pillow fight was going to start. They told me they just got done with one and I missed it. Maybe next time.
Sorry Grandma, but the truth must be told.

Fundraiser.

This rip stop fabric from old bike banners is going to be turned into reusable bags 12"x8"x12". All seams will be double stitched and made by me with a lifetime warranty. The funds from these bags will be going directly to fund my airline ticket back to Belgium where I'll be racing on MBK Bicycle-Line again. I can make custom sized bags, padded laptop cases, belts, ties and condoms (no warranty on the condoms.) The price? What ever you want to contribute.

I am going to make this first one here soon. So if you want the "Fisher" one contact me.

Also, if you have access to old banners that aren't being used please let me know.

Thank you for your support.

Work or Play?

Training or riding with friends? Heavy weights or 12oz weights? 20ish hrs on the bike or 12? Biker rider or bike racer. Pro or Amateur?

At some point you have to be realistic and decide. I have already written off being pro. But that doesn’t mean I won’t be able to race and beat a few. 20 Hrs? Been there done that... you have to do it if you want to be fast so I'll do it. But this year I think I'll have a few 30hr weeks. I am also hitting the gym here soon. I would rather ride with friends but enjoy going out and riding solo for hours.

I am glad I still have a couple years left of school to really decide. Bike riding has been a great focal point for the last few years and has even helped me get through college. I'll be going back to Belgium to race next summer. Why? I am not sure... it's in my blood, being a winner, throwing my arms up after a solo break , no one in the picture. That’s a dream come true. Foolish bravado I know. Maybe someday I’ll win and when I do it’ll be worth it.

I have to get back to work living the dream. I won’t let you down.

This just in!

Next year I'll be riding for... cough, hack, sneeze, cough. Got it?

Leroy is so stoked!

Thursday, October 22, 2009

It's kind of cool...

when you see a dude you raced often against in Belgium turn pro with a real pro team.

Stella

I put the mirrors back on and took off the stickers. She starts on the first kickish most of the time. Or the electric start... but that's not cool.

Tuesday, October 06, 2009

To my friend in Houston.

I am not sure what to think about this, little anger, confusion and sadness maybe.

This just sucks all around. Did I just get punched in the gut? I really don't know what to think... But if you're ever back in the falls lets go for a ride around Mt. Scott.

Lets see...

Vespa, Stella, Honda C70 or Buddy.

I found a couple sweet bikes around my price range. Check out this Stella seems like a good deal. A little out of my price range but cool as heck and this Yamaha this bike just looks cool.

Thanks to last weekends race winnings I can go maybe a little higher...

Bikes

I don't have a TT bike, Cross bike or a Track bike. Therefor I don't do TTs races, Cross or the track. I do though have a Mt. Bike that I haven't ridden in about 2 years that I will be taking out today for a few hours to find my love again.

---

Had a fun ride with Les the other day. He averaged 200 watts for a few hours. So I know I did quite a bit more. I should be ready for Texas State RR in a couple weeks.

Getting ...

discouraged about racing again this weekend. It just cost too much. And I even get my races reimbursed but I cant pay in advanced. Maybe if I could sign up using cash the day of without stupid day of fees I could do it.

It would be a waste to race with this attitude anyways.

My mind really is not into racing right now. I don't even care if I race. Saturday group ride might be fun. With a day of Mt biking Sunday.

New Goal!

I am planing to hit the gym hard, gain 50lbs or so this winter and play Rugby in the spring.

And maybe pick up track "racing" too!

The Fortunes...

that survived spending a couple of hours in the middle of the road, during a rain storm, in my wallet.

"The best times of your life have not yet been lived."

"There will be someone sharing your warmth."

"An unexpected event will soon bring you fortune."

For some reason I keep my fortunes. I know I had a lot more but those were washed away. These ones sound good though.

GP Schaal Schoeters Beveren. Real bike racers and me.

You know... Someday I would like to be a real bike racer. I feel like being back home in the US has only made me sick and slow. The air down here sucks and the racing is worse. I plan on going back "home" next summer and maybe after I graduate spend a year there. I get to sit all day, get pre race leg massages, post race leg massages (At the big races), free food, super good race support, good supporters(fans), free beer and all I have to do is race my bike as fast as I can. Life is simple.

---

That last photo is of my teammate Koen Demuynck and he's the only person I know who can push a 44 inner chain ring. When I first got there I remember being on his wheel and he was pulling away from me in his 53/11 and I was thinking to myself I made a mistake going to Belgium.

Taking...

some time off from the blog. In the mean time if you want to check out cool HHH TV stuff. Here is some camera time for myself. Smithers does that work for Lazer?

---

Josh Carter aka "JC" won the HHH Road Race(100 miles in about 3hr and 40 min) while racing for MSU. This is the first time in the 28 year history an MSU rider took the big win. And he killed it today to grab the overall for the weekend.

My legs were feeling yesterdays efforts...

I can now buy a few books.

Race

I got 7th. My legs are not under me yet.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Have we all seen this yet?

I made my dad watch it...

when it was over he said: "Finally that was fuc$ing bad. I am going to go watch people kill things on the TV." Good stuff.

I should post somthing.

Did the Tuff ride last night. Rode there from Coon Rapids did the ride where I think the went easy for me. My Grandpa had to pick me up from the ride home on East River Road by 694. I didn't have a light and I though it got dark a little later. :) Will be doing Black Dog tonight. My legs feel a little dead still, I hope over the next few days they'll be ok.

I'll be in TX early next week.

Race report

Blah blah race sucked... in other news. The director would like me to race here for the entire year next season. And set me up like no team could in the US.

Hard to pass up.

It´s something to ponder and has really got me thinking. If my plans fall through in the US for next season I may just go back for the summer next year. And maybe go for a year after I am done with school.

I would like to thank MBK-Bicycle Line for a great summer and future possibilities.

---

My legs feel better after the race I sucked in today. Weird, but it´s hard to "peak" when you race almost every other day. Right? I guess I am tired. But my body feels fine and legs. Maybe it´s my mind. Last race will be friday.

I love Minnesota.

Why?

24th today

Race report!

Today race started off fast as usual. Some point really early the field split into two and I found myself in the back group... Stupid I know but with 62 dudes on a roads the same size as bike paths (I am not joking) and mostly single file it´s easy to get held up or gaped. Well after over half way through and a lot of pulling and solo "nice attacks" we caught the front group while retiring most of the peloton. But a small group jumped away. I was able to sprint for top a top 20 but really messed it up and a few people passed me. My sprint is no where near the Choncey standard.

---

2 more maybe 3 races left. ZILLEBEKE-WESTOUTER-ZILLEBEKE (interclub, and it´s held by all the famous climbs... Todd does this one go up all the bergs?) and RUMBEKE and maybe BEVEREN-ROESELARE then home!

Saturday, August 01, 2009

A lot can happen in 7km.

After 40min... I bridged up to the break. took a few pulls. Got dropped from the break. Got dropped out of the peloton. Unzipped my jersey. Got back on for some reason. Got dropped again. Then gave my number to the ref.

The break stayed clear. O well, another race tomorrow.

---

Other note, my friend here from Denmark raced 9 times in 11 days. Crazy kid. His best place so far is 14th.

Friday, July 31, 2009

Sooner or later...

This post was going to happen. I still have no clue how to race . I feel like I am just riding around, pulling too hard when I don't have to, closing the wrong gaps and following the wrong wheels. My fitness is not nearly holding me back as much as my tactics. How many years do you think it takes to actually learn how to race a bike? And I don't mean get a win here or there with luck but always being in the right spot to win?

---

Yesterday after the race I was beat. I grab a couple of those bad boys on the bottom row and my 1.5 hr ride home was a sweet numb blur
I am starting to get tired...

---

I come home to Minnesota the 10th and will be back in "da Falls" around the 16th. I have a bunch of races still to do here and will be hitting up Birchwood before leaving MN and hopefully going well at HHH. then a little break.

I know I had 1 day off the bike after the failed tour but I can´t remember before that... No time to rest!

18th today.

Always a "but." Facebook post:

"Are the races getting easier here? After being stopped by a crash, my one minute interval into a head wind to catch back on left little in the tank to fight and unleash the Choncey sprint for 3rd. So I kind of sprinted and got 18th. Tomorrow and Sunday should be interesting races."

It's my best place but also one of my most disappointing races.

What I have seen and haven't.

Seen:
- 1000s of people on bikes.
- 1 fool on a TT bike.
- 3 aero bar Freds.
- 40+ year olds in his races ripping it up.
- USA Team riders getting f'ed on a regular bases... I only contributed a few times.
- Lots of oily legs.
- Stupid old women with cell phones on the back side of the course controlling the race.

Haven't seen:
- Those hooky roTo rings.
- Silly "Category" racing.
- The Anti Doping van.
- HED wheels. Why?
- Random dogs running around.
- A ghetto or bad area.

You can add your own if you want.

Fotos

All the women and the cop dude are my family. The guys are their boyfriends and that’s me in the middle. FYI I just shaved…
My new jeans. And yes that’s a butterfly and a Fcuk- ing TIGER and a bunch of messed up stuff. They fit well and are soooo eurooo! Fcuk is the brand of the weird one. Both only cost me 25 Euro.

This is by my bed... STEP AWAY FROM THE CANDY BOWL.

Nothing

Except for easy 1-1.5hr rides, that's what I have been doing this week.

I did see these sweet race cars though. These are all for Peter. This is the Fiat 500 and is the best selling car here. If I lived here I think this is what I would be rolling in.

Francis's dream car.

Dude is that a Civffari? Pimp! He had a hot chick with him too... Retarded.

GODELIEVE PRIJS - PITTEM

I was going to write a report but there is no way I can describe what I went through today. So here is my Facebook update:

"Well, I made it up the famous Tour de Flanders cobbled climbs with the front main pack in the rain. Hit the local circuits with the highly reduced peloton about 50 dudes and lasted two laps. Next week I'll be doing a 5 day tour. Time to get some beer."

I guess the tour is "Tour de Liege." (edit) I think it's but am not sure all I know it's 5 days long.

I am beat to hell right now.

Here are some photos.
Nice eh?
This team was a Continental Team last year and lost some funds. So they are at most of the races I do. Even the local ones.
Some of their team cars... I think they had one more car there. They also have the current Belgium Elite National Champion and he was there.
Here's how we roll... Our Sprinter Van was at a Topsport race with our fast guys.
Me warming up for the 166km race looking forward to all the cobbled climbs, closed highways, super small roads and a lots of cow poop!

SCHAAL SCHOETERS - BEVEREN-WAAS

This race was in interclub race. So it was bigger with stronger riders. After our warm up massage by the team massage dude we all went to sign in. I think around 200 guys were at the start line. The race started with a neutral roll out of town then it was game on. I started towards the front because I didn't stage with the other riders. So I had a front row seat for a while. There was attack after attacks and we had guys in every move but mostly it was Tom (who got 13th) and me. After one of our riders got brought back maybe 70km in I took a dig off the front solo for awhile for some camera time. I was joined by 4 or so dudes and we stayed away for a bit. I then went in another move bridging across with a dude who jumped me... so I got on his wheel after my super hard pull... then jumped him to make the front group my HR it seemed never went below 180bpm for a long time. After 100km it was still together when we hit the local laps. I was sitting pretty in the top 10 for 4 of the laps. With 4 to go the attacks came and I found my self in the front group with 3 teammates. But I couldn't stay in it. I did a lot of racing earlier and was starting to feel it after 150km. I went back to the peloton and then was whipped off the back. I stayed in the caravan for a little then made it back up to finish in the peloton.

I almost died about 4 times... I put my front wheel in some dudes derailleur. Some how I unclipped one foot and jumped up the curb to save it. Man was he yelling... something.

Our team took 5th, 13th and a solo effort for a top 20. We had a sponsor there and he was happy. The guy who took 5th then was motor paced home.

It’s an amazing sight to see 150+ dudes single file. It takes like 30 min just to move up towards the front. Then when the road narrows there is no way to move up unless you attack on the side walks, cut corners through yards, stores or jumping up on the round about. I also saw two riders who had to be pulled from each other at the finish. I like racing here.

Next race GODELIEVE PRIJS - PITTEM. This race will be hard.

Saturday, July 04, 2009

4th of July.

The race went ok today. My “easy time” was good and the legs are fresh. I was with the lead group when I hit the wall with 3 laps to go. I was in a break about half way through for a lap.

I should be good for the interclub race next week.

FYI I am not ready for this heat.

Wednesday, July 01, 2009

It'll grow back right?

I got lost today.

Todd, Bruno and I are going for a ride next week. He asked if you were coming back?

I like it here.

Why does it cost around $30-35.00 and sometimes a lot more to race in the U.S. When here it only cost 3 Euro no matter what and doing interclub races they pay YOU!?! Over here I can easily pay for races almost every other day. But if I had to pay for races in the states...? I wouldn't race that much. Thank you MSU/Hotter 'N Hell for your support!

So...

which one of you turned on my suck mode? I had a great race last Friday, now the last two races have been HORRIBLE! I need a Jupiler.

Jason remember these buildings? They just started to rebuild them. I like the gray on in the middle. It's right next to the pub and canal. I don't think it would cost that much either.
