Marc wanted props for the photo down below...

Fine... As Marc and I were climbing up this hill I look back to find Marc no where in sight. As I was pedaling so slow I almost tipped over I saw this sign. Which I remember seeing little kids cheering us on a couple of years ago during the race. I decided I should stop and wait just to make sure every thing was all right. I gave Marc a little time rest and had him take this picture for me. :) To give him some credit he wasn’t on his bike for over a month. When he pulled up his breathing and shaking stop rather quickly and he was able to take a nice clear picture. I think Marc is making progress.

I wasn't able to ride today which kind of pissed me off but I did work...

Off season?

I don't think so. When its 36 degrees out side on the 26th of December and you have no job its hard to pass up. I rode my normal route and saw two other riders. One in a GP kit who pointed out the Power Cranks and said that it ruined riding for him when he tried them. haha wuss. Don't get me wrong I hate to love those things. I hate the pain but I'll love the outcome.

Hockey has been slow becouse of the holidays but we have a game Thursday at 10:45!!! and thats a stop time game.

This is for you.

Giving means a lot during this time of year and my closes friend and family haven’t let me down. Most of you know what I’ve been through the last four months or so and I can’t thank you all enough for your generosity and encouragement. From my grandpa losing a few big hands in poke too good friends buying drinks or giving a call just to see how I was doing.

I wake up every day knowing I’m one day closer to a brighter future. With the support of my family and friends I know I’ll be able to become the man I want to be.

Thank you and as soon as I can, the next round is on me.

So it looks like we'll be riding by this sign once again next year. Just in a big pack and hopefully I won't have to rest like this.

Saddle time in TX?

Today I had a great almost two hour ride. It was really nice out side.

---

I'm thinking after the holidays and such I might drive down to Wichita Falls (where I went to school) for a couple of weeks. Looking for some one else to go with to spread the gas bill. I should be able to find a place to stay for a couple of people for free. I've made contact with some friends down there so we'll see. I'll post on MCF as soon as I know I'm going. Unemployment is cool.

Floyd

Sounds like Floyd is throwing the towel. I think he has run out of money and he's getting dejected. I've worked on a lot of lab equipment in the past and I know any slight miss calibration of the equipment the reading would be off a few percent in any direction. To calibrate most blood lab equipment it usually take multiple times and that's even with a controlled standard. Hell the lab tech could had something on his glove he didn't know about...

But really you just don't know what people are going to do when they think they have to win at any cost.

---

I'm back on the bike at least today, spent an hour on the trainer watching Band of Brothers.

"Empties"

I headed up to Blaine NSC last night to play with some friends in a "C" level final play off game. They had a sad record through out the winter but have won two games so far in the playoffs. After a hard fought game with a couple of "fights" some ejections and me scoring the first goal we came out on top as the series champs 7-6.

We even have shirts to prove it.

---

And for Shame's Saturday game... We lost. I got a goal but it didn't help.

Ride like I ride when I ride.

I went out today it was nice but a little wet. 1h and 50 min. The hip didn't bug me and I was able to pedal normal till about an hour in then I had to rest. Which I found if I do one legged drills it gives the resting leg just enough time (about 10 seconds) to rest and like wise on the other leg. So no more coasting for me.

Looks like I'll be able to ride all this week for all the nice weather we are having.

Monday, December 11, 2006

Here is a good picture of our game last night which we won 10-3!!! I played ok... I really screwed up a break away and didn't even get a point...

---

The hip joint is feeling fine but well see after the ride today.

Posers...

Sick Boy invited the BCR crew out to the west side with the west side gang. Since I am the only one with no wife, kids, job, life or girl friend I was the only BCR rep for the day... We set out into a stiff head cross wind after a nice tour of Minnetonka and Excelsior we ended back at the coffee shop 49 miles 2 hours and 45 min later.

More importantly this was my first ride after a two weeks rest and it happened to be the longest ride I have had on the Power Cranks. It’s still weird ridding these things. Every climb I would be pushing a huge gear and really would have to hold back which is harder to say then do... Then on the flats when you need to "soft pedal" I would get killed because it was harder to go slow... That makes no sense but that how they feel.

One problem, towards the end of the ride my left hip joint was in so much pain I could not lift my pedal, I was wincing in pain, no joke. I'm not sure why but it could have been the time off, pushing big gear, Longest ride… I have a firm belief that every time I ride these cranks it’s benefiting me if not physically then mentally for they do really suck to ride.

Lakers run down

"What happened" Bus Driver Bill asks the team as they embark the
'DuckTape Express' in the parking lot of Saint Paul Academy.
"We Lost" Anvil Amy barks as she jumps aboard the bus.
"Yeah, but how" Bus Driver Bill continues to question, "I heard lots of
good stuff happened."
"Well Bill, It's true, some good things happened" Mucker ponders for a
moment.
"I heard Hacksaw had the hipcheck of the season." Protection Man Dan
interjects.
"Oh Yah, I got him good" Hacksaw smiles and jumps aboard.
"I heard that Target made two incredible stick saves that are going to
be on SportsCentre (Manitoba edition)" Protection Man Dan tries to
rally the team.
"Dove across and got it with my stick" The Shame on Ice goalie
proclaims.
"I heard Scooter Scott got a hat trick" Protection Man Dan mentions as
Scooter jumps on the bus carrying the hats the fans threw on the ice.
"Two bad the Red Had Society had its outing tonight, I won't match"

This past Saturday evening, 'Shame on Ice' finished a two game home
stand as they took on the Lakers.

"At least it wasn't a bakers dozen" Sheriff comments.

In the second period Shame lead 5-4. The final score was 12-5, Lakers.

"Damn Shameful" Jumpin Joel shakes his head.

This coming Sunday, Shame on Ice (3-1) travel to the Coliseum to play
the Admirals (1-4), puck drops at 6pm.

"Well shake it off gang, we love the Coliseum." Slick Joe comments as
he reflects on the many State Fairs held there.
"Yeah, I wonder if they will still have the carved butter heads from
this years fair?" Mucker rubs his belly.

"If the concession stand is open, maybe some Pronto Pup corn dogs"
Slash Lee wonders.
"Did you know that the State Fair started in 1854 and was only cancelled
a few years during the Civil War, the Sioux Uprising and in 1945 due to
a gas shortage, it used to be called the Ramsey County Poor Farm, but
now...." Mucker is cut off.

"Mute button" Goon Blaine smiles "modern technology is cool huh"

Tickets are still available.

I need a job...

There isn’t a lot of things that keep me up at night but being in the military does. How it changed me and my future forever with a stroke of a pen when I was 19. Its been over 7 years since that date and it has change my world forever, from giving me my Bio-Med education, sending me to Iraq and then trying to send me again (this is a whole other rant) causing the end blow in one of my closes friendships.

I want people to understand that when they sign up for our military it is not just 6 years or one weekend a month. It is loosing out on births, marriages, family reunions, football, a years worth of racing. Life you should be living with out the government’s never ending stare.

I have completed my 6 year commitment and should be in IIR for 2 years (inactive ready reserves.) I have been giving “warning letters” in the mail stating that I have to show up to weekend drills or I will be dishonorably discharged before my inactive duty starts (it should have started over a year ago...)

My take is the army is breaking our legal contact.

Next week Monday I will be going into the army recruiter’s station by my house, if they will let me. I will ask the individual who wants to join 12 questions, a couple routine, age, education ect. and few that will get him or her thinking about the decisions they make in this office. I want to make sure these kids make an educated decision on whether they should join or not. This is purely for my own studies. The military is not for every one but is a good choice for some.

This should be fun.

Cat 3

Will you look at that. It looks like my late season form after my "vacation" has help me get a Cat 3 upgrade.

Looks like its time to train... Starting next week.

MCF

Looks like a lot was accomplished at the last meeting. As someone who is going to be on a new small team for next year, I like the grants for helping out to put on a new race.

I will be going to the MCF meeting next month to try to get a feel on what it takes to swim in these political filled waters...

Ivan Basso

As for his connection to Dr Fuentes, "How can I make an explanation? There are many things said, but simply my name is not there on any documents. My name has been on a fax, but you have ask why? Who wrote the fax? You have to ask them? It is not my fault they wrote my name." www.cyclingnews.com

Is this guy for real he said his name is not on any of there documents. But his name is on a fax? Isn't that a document? Maybe they wrote your name on a fax Basso because you owe money to your drug dealers.

The signing of Ivan Basso to our (Americas) "pro tour" team has made me sick. There’s a reason why Riis distanced him self from this bum and I don't think it was over unpaid girl scout cookies.

I feel shame

So last night we played the "Lakers" who were 2-0-1 before we faced them last night. Well now there 3-0-1. The game was truly shameful losing 10,11 or 12-5, I don't remember. We went in to the second period up 5-4 only to have them score over and over. I ended up with one penalty for tripping and I drew one when I tried to get the puck out of the goalies mitt... I'll have a Mucker run down as soon as he writes one. I should have went to the freak show at the monster truck Saturday.

Little time off

I figured after the races his weekend and with no real motivation to ride out in the freezing weather, I'am going to take a couple weeks off to let the thick hair grow back on the legs and rest from a weird year of great ups and a lot of lows.

Next season will hopefully be one with out any "vacations." This will be my third full year of training. I haven’t had two years of consecutive training and I hope this will change in the next few years. Two years ago I would train two hours a day on the darn trainer and I came out swinging. This year I will do the same with the key being low heart rate and using exclusively the Power Cranks. But this next year I will be able to do group rides during the week I haven't been able to do that really in four years...

Next year I have no dilutions of grandeur, I want my legs and efforts to do the talking.

Power Cranks

I'm giving credit to my late season ok form on these things. I've been riding the cranks for about five weeks I still can't ride them continuously but I should be by spring time. I have gone on a couple of easy couple hour rides with a few friends and was able to keep up at a moderate pace. I have notice it mostly on the Ice and going up hills. I've been able to go a little deeper and push a big gear for a longer amount of time. I think thats why the single speed has worked so well. I can't wait for spring to really see what these things did for me over winter.

Last weekend

This weekend was great thanks guys and gals. I had my best race once again Saturday on J's single speed. I rocked it to a 10th place finish and in the money securing my chance to afford the race on Sunday. The race was hard having to start at the back of the field and working my way up. I would seem to be able to really gain time on the flats dropping the other single speed guy that no one liked (Iowans are not the fun.) But just sucked on the run ups. I nipped a few guys in the closing laps to take that result.

Sunday was fun but hard. I got the non call up call up where the ref said my name which I though was a call up but really wasn't so I got to start on the front row, Sorry Dis haha. The pace was hard and I was with Little Guy for awhile till I started slipping out of the top ten with no real motivation except to drink beer on that climb. I ended up riding the Grinchs Layer clean one handed with a beer in the other hand. :) After the race the ref said I was DQed but Tom Boonen said I was still on the results.

---

The drive back from Iowa for hockey was well worth the trip. Minus the schedule mishap where we had to go to a different rink. The team rocked again with the best game I think we have ever had, with spot on passing and the face offs being won with all our centers would have been hard for us to lose. If we keep this fire up I think we will be able to expand our 3 and 0 record.

Shirts are still available for $15.00.

This might be a good one to start it off

“Just kill me now” Lightning Lalla mumbles to Mucker Brett
The kid seemed distressed by the news.

Earlier…

“Sure, I’ll be your Wingman” Mucker comments as he and Lightning played their way around the disc golf course.
“Yeah, even my Ex said I should ask Jessie out” Lightning nods and struts to the next hole.
“She surely will be at Bocachica’s, she owns the damn place” Mucker starts to outline the gameplan.
“Yeah, we will drop in for a few drinks and I’ll work on my lyrics…she’ll go out with me” Lightning pumps himself up as he gets mentally prepared.
“Here have another Pig’s Eye Lean” Mucker gives him a beer on hole #7.

“Yeah, my ex-fiancée moved from Wisconsin to Minnesota to be a stripper” Disc Golfer Wes comments to the 2 beer leaguers he is playing with.
“Oh, wow,… Well my ex-fiancée was a stripper before she was my ex-fiancée” Mucker retorts.
“I almost had an ex-fiancée” Lightning Lalla ponders

“Have another Pig’s Eye Lean” Mucker hands out beers on hole #14.

“Ok, be calm brother man. Be witty and smile” Mucker encourages Lightning as they enter the establishment.
“Hey”, Lightning Lalla smiles to Jessie the bartender as the two beer leaguers enter and sidle up to the bar.

Conversation ensues… Mucker interjects some humor then excuses himself several times to allow the point man to speak to his lady friend.

Things go well….Lightning Lalla is working on all cylinders, in top form. When there is a lull, Mucker the Wingman jumps in to spark up more conversation…..

Then it happened.

“I’m getting married in October” Jessie the bartender comments to the couple sitting next to Lightning.

“Kill me now” Lalla mutters.

And so it went.

I went from a Wingman to a Pallbearer.

Mucker

I'm board.

This Blog is going to be a blog for the hockey team Shame On Ice and my time as a unemployed cycling bum. Until I get a job I will keep this thing updated but other wise I could take it or leave it. Lets not to forget my rants about the state of paintball in MN.
