VOS Crit.

Well that went a little better. I got 10th. I rode the race in the top ten till I clipped a pedal in the corner and de-beaded my clincher tire. It was going "thump-thump" for half a lap at like 28mph. I decided that it might blow so I headed to the pit. It took them two laps to put a new one on... So the official said I had to be put back at the back of the stung out pack. So after I cooled down and re-sprinted it took me quite a few matches to get back to the front. In the last few laps a couple dudes went off the front but I though it would be no big deal because there were teams with like 4-5 teammates that didn't make it. Well... The never came back and two more went off. That was the move I should have been in. But I was still banking on the bigger teams. I played the odds and lost.

Next weekend should be fun.

On a side note... WM Cat2 punks need to learn how to race they dropped the ball the whole weekend... And if the National Anthem is in ear shot you better respect.

Road Race.

Right at the blow of the whistle I attacked and stayed away by my self for a little over 10 miles till after the climb. After that Collin and I were both in multiple moves but nothing stuck. There was a team there with 7 or 8 dudes and they killed everything. Going up the last climb we moved up the side and was in a really good positions for the sprint. With 800 meters to go they neutralized it because of a big crash from earlier.

I was feeling really good and was never really in the hurt locker. I was super stoked that it was going to come down into a field sprint. O well Tomorrow is the crit.

Valley of the Sun

We are here.

I got like 77th in the 13 mile TT with no aero equipment. It Felt good though and I can't wait for the RR and Crit.

Collin got 23 but had a bad day on the bike.

I took tons of photos that I will post when I get back.

Bike/Frame Manufactures.

Can we please STOP making head tubes so big. I mean, I ride a 60cm but the head tubes are between 200-220mm that's HUGE. I would like a 180, I am not some old dude racing your bike and I don't like the look of an inverted stem...

Racing is ... hard.

Well I can say I finished the road race and many people did not. I may even pulled in a top 30 about 30 min back. haha I was even off the front right after the neutral roll out. Yeah I was "that" guy. But "they" wouldn't let me up the road that far. I lasted over a hour. Went with a couple moves and cleaned the gutters a few times then got kicked out the back on a small kicker a long with a couple other dudes and that was it.

I am still sick too. This crap sucks. I did get a nice tan though. haha

I miss you Minnesota.

Mental

So I haven't won a race in a long time and I really don't remember how... It's hard when you have raced for winners and other people for so long racing for yourself brings a whole new game.

Today was the easiest "ride" I have ever had. Did I win? No... Could I see Josh winning 10 yards up the road? Yes. Did I even try to get in the right position? No.

I need to get my head in the game.

Some Day...

when I don't have to ride an old Cosmos front wheel and an Alex rear that I found in the back room that has a sweet gangster hop in it, I am getting a set of these.

I love the new HED website with all the wind data. Zipps are for kids.

Mr. De Facto...

on txbra.org is no longer going to post. He was trying to be funny but the schooling he received over the last few days proved he wasn't.

My new alias on txbra will be... "Lalla."

I think you'll see my posting go down. HAHAHA

Thanks to all my mentors!

January's Tan Line Update

So I don't think I have done a lame post in awhile...

The ride.

Welcome to the west!

I would have never though life would come to this.

I got me a Passport, international racing license and funds for my ticket there AND back. It's going to be a fun ride.

Being Slow + Stefan = Pain

Well the race didn't quite go as planed... But Josh Carter Won and Jason Short got second. And my teammate in the 4/5s also got second and got $99.00!!! Collin got a top ten. So it wasn't all bad for the "Falls Posse."

Short race story: Jason got away with a dude right after neutral roll out. At some point before the crosswind section a half a dozen of us were trying to get off the front for what would seem like 10-15 min. It was a lot of attacks, bridging and counters. It was fun and I was in the mix. We hit the turn were I was not in the best position. I had to bridge up to the lead group where I was riding in the ditch on the wrong side of the road.... Then Stefan and Carter pasted me. Stefan then attack and I said good bye. I went to the last group which was about the 5th group back on the road. We caught everyone except the small group off the front about 2 min up. Well I wanted to get back in the race and tried to rally the 50+ peloton to actually pull though! Nahhh They would just attack me after I would do a 2-3min pull were no one would come around except a few dudes... After about 40 or so miles of this I got pissed and called it a day. Zone 2ed it the rest of the day

The best quote would have to be my directors after I picked up a few bottle. "Here's your water your riding back to the finish." And that was it... HAHA

Next race is in a few weeks.

Training Tip Tuesday.

Why spend all that hard earned cash on sports marketed compression socks when you can go on eBay and get medical quality socks for only around $5.00? They have full length, calf length and open or closed toe. I like the open so I can wear my flip-flops. Where do you think "Skins" and such get there research from?

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Sorry girl...

it's not you, it's me.I have to further explore my potential on the road bike and you're going to help pay for my ticket. It was good while it lasted. We did well racing and had lots of fun on the trail with the BCR boys. You will be missed.

Next stop... eBay.

First Race of the Season...

is a little over a week away in Copperas Cove. $20.00 to enter. The prize payout of $8 per rider 5 deep will go up 2 more dollars and 7 deep if it reaches above 50 riders. Which I think it will.

They had to add another 4/5 field because the first one filled.

This is racing. Thank you TBI and Copperas Cove.

Grudge Match

I thought of a good way to raise money for the track and make is less boring between races.

imagine... A Sickboy/Super-Rookie, Brain/Hanna, Little Guy/Don, throw down!!! I would pay money for that! Wouldn't you?

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

New Record!

After a hard run into my rest week I cranked out a 30 second faster time then my previous record up Mt. Scott from last year. Let it also be known that Brain stayed with me up the whole climb. Trackies can be fast?

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

Time to go ride.

This photo was taken a few minutes ago. The first race of the season is just 20 days away. I am super stoked for this upcoming year. Thanks to my coach Julie Carter and my teammates like Collin (who rode me off his wheel at 40mph) for pushing me!

Stuff

What can you do with this stuff?

She just sits up there and stares at it for hours.

Santa came early to the complex. MSU Cycling supports other cycling teams.

That canister is already dirty just running it a few passes! Man that thing sucks!

Shame on Ice Update:

"What are you nimrods doing back here." ProtectionMan Dan asks a group of Shamers in the back of the 'DuckTape Express'.

"Holiday Cheer Dan, we are writing a Christmas Carol." Mucker glees.

"Yup, Danno, we are writing the '12 Penalties of Hacksaw', Trademark tunes his gazoo.

Last weekend, Shame on Ice (3-3) sledded into the Breck Arena to challenge the Bulls (2-4-1) in a Winter Beer League (WBL) match-up. It was the first time the two teams have competed. Target's 59 minute Beer League shutout streak was ended at 62 as the Bulls scored on the still frozen Shame 3 minutes into the contest.

"On the 12th game of Shame, Hacksaw took a penalty, now the league has sat him down to watch three" Hacksaw bellows.

"He had, 12 Knees a Kneeing, 11 Elbows Flying, 10 Cross Checks" Mucker sings the list of infractions.

The Bulls extended their lead in the first period to 2, with a goal 7 minutes into the game. Target was peppered with shots throughout the contest and saved 36 of 38 Bulls shots.

"9 Two-Handed Slashes, 8 Smart Arse-Comebacks, 7 Wicked hip-checks, 6 Scorekeepers numbers" Mucker sings.

TIMMAY cut into the lead at the 10:17 mark of the second period, assisted by Slick and Bezerker.

"TIM-MAY!!" Timmay, Timmayed.

Slick tied the game at the 9:34 mark of the third period, assisted by TIMMAY and Bezerker.

"Nice pass TIM-MAY" Slick congratulates.

"Well Thank You Kindly sir" TIMMAY…..speaks.

"5 TRIP---PING CA---LLS"

Shame on Ice (3-3-1) tied the Bulls (2-4-2) by a tally of 2-2. The "DuckTape Express" was repaired and picked up the gang after the game to take them to the next road game, next Tuesday, when the Shame (3-3-1) take on the Admirals (1-6) at Augsburg College, puck drops at 9:45pm.

" 4 Boarding Majors, 3 Game Suspension, 2 Butt Ends,

And the Referee just happened to FALL DOWN !!" The whole Shame sings.

Have a happy and safe Holiday Season

Collin got second the other day by lapping the field with Crosby. Metro didn't make the break so I tried to go with all the moves going across. I went with all the moves till I moved off the back little over 40min in.

I was able early in the race get off the front a couple times in moves that I though were going to stick... None would last more than a couple of laps. Legs were there my mind wasn't.

The gym is giving me muscles where I have never had any before. Like on my legs! You can really feel it in the headwinds.

I will be staying down here over the winter break training. We will be doing a few 140 mile rides and plenty long days in the saddle. I also be making trips up to Mt. Scott in OK. I have floor space and you can stay down here for a couple weeks if you want. Cost will be a case of Summit per week.

If you need a sprint workout I am sure Josh Carter or Les Akins will give you one.

Email me if interested.

The Weekend is Over!

I like it when the weekend ends. I can finally get some rest and stay on a focused schedule.
---
Halloween was fun. I really didn't have any plans and just roamed around with the posse till we found a party with a Twister.
---
Training is going well. I think Friday I had my best ride. I drank 4 beers then went out. Yesterday I hit some sort of wall (See above)but still lifted that night. Then today went really well. The tap will have to be shut off soon... :(

The fast German/American Stefan Rothe did well the other day coming 3rd in a TT that "France Armstrong" won.

I Feel Shame.

I went to the game and the Wild lost like bitches. The best part of the game is the "Ice Girls." They do what snotty little kids do on the ice in MN. Where's our "Ice Girls?" I had great company with Josie and her dad and Peter the doctor. Photos should be up soon.

I also just pulled out a 1/4" sliver, thanks to the Velodrome.

I had the gym on campus this morning all by myself, listening to some good tunes playing on the gyms radio. Then a class entered. The atmosphere changed ever so slightly. Wait, did the music change too? Yes it did. What are they playing? I hear some mention of donations... Crowns... Savior... Knees NOOO!!!!

Can you believe that the teacher actually put this shit on? Needless to say I didn't finish my work out and hit the showers. I guess for the sake of being tolerant I'll be bring my iPod.

Just lost her baby making capabilities.

She seems a little more feisty, like she knows and is biting me more.

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Yes...

That's a medium drink. The Whataburger by my pad also has a sign that says "One Nation Under God Indivisable" painted on a window. The burger is not as good as a Butter Burger from Culvers.

Here Kitty Kitty.

"Living the dream"

I think I’m starting to fully realize what this phrase mean. You are the maker of your own future. You’re in control. If you have ever felt you could have or should have you need to really think on how you could have.

Right at this moment as you read this. I am doing something that is truly what I want to do. I’m not ever going to leave a “what if” on the table.

Just a few moments ago I was leg wrestling the cutest girl and the cycling team won the best float in the Home Coming Parade.

My advice: life is way to short. If you don’t live your dream, you’re better off dead.

I'm not sure I know any other way.

===

O yeah and I also got in 5 hours today on the bike.

Thanks Leslie...

So as most of you all know I have a tattoo I got when I was younger... Well I'm thinking maybe one more.

I think I want to get "Living (or "Live")the dream" In writing on my other arm. Like a... Whole different part of my life kind of thing.

Should I go with "Living" or "Live." I like Living better.

So Chris, what are you going to do now that Lance is going to be on your team. You both like each other right? I think you should maybe think about going to college... Like Midwestern State University.

On this day Leslie and I met for the first time.

I had to be reminded... By her of course.

She still hasn't posted for awhile. I hear she might have rode her bike the other day.

Sunday, September 21, 2008

Do What?

So I'm still not training. Has it been one week or two? I think allergies were a big contributor to my lack of performance not over training. I'm missing some sweet rides with a recovering Josh Carter who is fast I guess. I do get to ride a little to school and back though.

---

Matt Fox from MSU and Minnesota's own Elana Dorr had a good Track National showing (way to jump on that one Bikethrow.)

You guys will get a kick out of this... So you all remember Eugene Chacherine, well he didn't disappoint again with crashing... I think the first time was on the rollers right next to Fox (who said it was funny as hell.) Then again on the track during a match sprint. If you can find a picture of his new bike I hear it's sweet!!! I wonder if he has crash replacement insurance.

And here's a photo of the "Queen of the Complex" Cadence.

Friday, September 12, 2008

Well...

"The Gun Show" got 10th. I would have had more fun taking that money to a strip club. I lasted only 25 min. Only a couple more races, then my season will be over.

I'm the last dude in the clip.

Leslie hasn't posted again for a long time.

I will soon see tomorrow night. It'll be my first big race against "PROs." $25,000 prize package and a $2,500 two lap to go prime.

Sunday, September 07, 2008

Meet Cadence.

I kind of took resposiblilty for her(someone found her)and my friend Josie named her. I'm not really a big cat guy, but what the hell, she poops in her litter box already. I guess I'll keep her for a little while.

Second and Third races

Last nights race was held in a cool Italian town, they also gave us a free pasta dinner afterwords. Boyd got 9th I think. I was able to go work the front for a lap to try to bring back an early break and help the team a little. then it was over after 40 min. It was fun racing side by side Hank Vogels for awhile. I think next year at these races I'll be able to actually really help the team out.

---

Tonight we'll race again then the long drive home.

Later

Sunday, August 31, 2008

First Race

First race is done. It was hard, I pulled out with 5 to go. Boyd got 7th, Collin and Todd stuck in well to the end. Brian Jensen won.

Dewy and I also made fun of GP for not being there...

Good Luck Joe!!!

In Finland. When will Eric Carter and Joe figure out you can't make that much money in skiing in the U.S. But if you do it right by living at your girlfriend's house and eat her food you might be able to survive racing full time.

Any takers ladies?

Joe you're always welcome to come to MSU for cycling.
